Our Pursuit of Excellence | A Message from CEO Dave Ressler

by Aspen Valley Hospital

June 7, 2023

What is extraordinary healthcare, and what does it look like? This is the discussion that is prompted by our Board of Directors, mulled by our executive team, and translated into action by our physicians and staff. This is because providing extraordinary healthcare is our mission, and it deserves our attention and serious focus.

At AVH, our Board has taken the conversation to an even higher level, which is to pursue not just healthcare excellence, but excellent health within our community. We strive to foster our community as the healthiest in the nation. A couple months ago, U.S. News and World Report ranked Pitkin County as the fifth healthiest rural county in the country, and we tied for second healthiest of all counties in Colorado for population health.

Indeed, our pursuit of the most extraordinary healthcare and to be the healthiest community remains the source of our inspiration to do more and be more for you. Consider first the addition of Dr. Stuart Kinsella to The Steadman Clinic. Dr. Kinsella is a highly-trained and compassionate orthopaedic spine surgeon who is a pioneer in robotic spine surgeries that are the gold standard for precision with less pain and faster recovery times for patients.

For our overall health, we once again held our spring Health Fair and provided nearly 1,000 low-cost lab tests to community members in the mid and upper valley. These are an essential part of maintaining our health and were accomplished thanks to dozens of hospital employees and physicians.

Also in this issue, we have tips from internist Dr. Edward Wiese on how men can take charge of their health at any age as part of June’s National Men’s Health Month. Plus, we offer a few ideas on fun activities for kids, now that school is officially out.

If, after reading this issue, you want to learn more, or have ideas about what healthcare excellence and excellent health means to you, please contact me! Listening to our community is an important part of our pursuit.

Dave
