BIO

Dr. Gregory Balko has served Aspen Valley Hospital in a variety of capacities since joining the organization as an emergency physician in 1998. In addition to emergency medicine, his professional interests focus on the health of the community and the long-term viability of the Hospital. Dr. Balko has served two four-year terms as an elected member of the Aspen Valley Hospital Board of Directors, and has served on the board of the Aspen Valley Medical Foundation. Living and practicing in the mountains sparked his interest in sports-related injuries and wilderness medicine. Dr. Balko earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 1995 and then completed his residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina. He is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and is a fellow at the American College of Emergency Physicians. When he’s not working at or on behalf of Aspen Valley Hospital, Dr. Balko spends time with his children, fiancé and three dogs, as well as mountain biking and hiking.
