BIO

My journey of caring for and respecting my elders began early as an avocation. As a child, I helped take care of older family members and neighbors as a way of life. Throughout my youth, my affiliation with the field of older adults and caregiving grew, as my physician father encouraged me to become a junior candy striper at our local hospital. And then as President of the National Honor Society in high school, I championed a campaign for our club to volunteer at our local retirement community, bringing youth and cheer to the residents. As a Communication major at Wake Forest University, I loved my studies in interpersonal communication, with a focus on cultural and generational communication, in particular. And as House Chair for my Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, I worked with my peers on an outreach program at a local care community, adopting “grandparents.” I thrived in these intergenerational opportunities and knew this path was my future. After graduation, I enjoyed traveling and exploring the world before moving to Aspen, where I met my husband and started our family. I was thrilled to begin my career with Whitcomb Terrace and Aspen Valley Hospital in 2001, and have been privileged to share a rewarding career with an amazingly dedicated team of professionals, as well as so many interesting residents and their families. A highlight of my journey has been to share my passion for Whitcomb Terrace with my children and their peers in the local schools, who have enjoyed spending time with our residents by playing games together and sharing mutual interests. We are blessed to be a part of this small and close-knit community, which has so many wonderful people who generously share their time and talent with us, helping to make Whitcomb Terrace the special gem it is.
