Dr. Scott Samelson is a Colorado native who joined the medical staff at After-Hours Medical Care in Basalt and Snowmass Clinic in Snowmass Village in 2021. Dr. Samelson is returning to Colorado after eight years practicing on the north shore of Lake Tahoe and one year on the South Island of New Zealand. He enjoys practicing “ski medicine” and has experience as a physician for the US Ski Team and as Squaw Valley Ski Resort’s medical director. Dr. Samelson worked in primary care, urgent care and as a hospitalist while practicing in the Lake Tahoe area. He is trained in Basic Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Dr. Samelson graduated form Colorado State University with a BS in wildlife biology in 1997. Twelve years later he earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado. He completed his residency at the Family Medicine Residency Program in Fort Collins in 2012. Dr. Samelson is glad to be returning to Colorado where his family and many of his friends reside, and where he loves the big mountains, flowing rivers, open spaces and blue skies.
