Inpatient Services

Here at Aspen Valley Hospital, we appreciate that a visit to the hospital (whether expected or not) triggers a multitude of stressors for both the patient and their loved ones. That is why we work alongside Aspen Hope Center to staff our patient care units with specialized Licensed Clinical Social Workers. In addition to crisis management, our social workers collaborate with your care team to offer a wide range of behavioral health services.

Please speak to your provider about connecting with one of our Licensed Clinical Social Workers, if you find yourself in need of behavioral health support while at Aspen Valley Hospital for any treatment or service.

Inpatient

Addressing any psychosocial needs of patients throughout the hospital. Counseling topics include emotional support, domestic abuse, conflict mediation and more.

Educating patients or loved ones about illnesses, treatment plans or pertinent behavioral conditions, i.e. post-partum depression after giving birth.

Directing patients and caregivers to the appropriate resources within our community, such as senior meals, end-of-life support and substance abuse organizations.

Facilitating living wills, medical durable power of attorneys, advance directives and other legal medical documents as necessary.

Supporting patients experiencing trauma or loved ones experiencing distress, such as a fatality.

Crisis Management

Due to the unpredictable nature of behavioral health crises, Aspen Valley Hospital equips its medical staff with the necessary resources to assist members of our community, at any time of day. Our emergency department works closely with local non-profit organizations, as well as the Pitkin Area Co-Responder Teams, to serve community members facing behavioral health crises. Aspen Hope Center works in tandem with AVH to support medical staff 24/7 with highly qualified, on-call behavioral health providers available to dispense guidance on critical patient situations (such as people experiencing suicidal or homicidal episodes). These providers will also evaluate any pertinent criteria and facilitate next steps for individuals who come through the emergency department in mental distress.
