Aspen Valley Hospital is committed to the lifelong health and wellness of our patients. Our rehabilitation programs, including cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, oncology rehabilitation, and pulmonary rehabilitation, are designed to help patients reclaim the richness of an active life. Learn how to manage chronic conditions and overcome life-changing cardiac, oncology, and pulmonary events with a comprehensive, guided program that combines physiology, nutrition, and stress management.
Surviving a heart attack, or any other cardiovascular event, doesn’t end with the trip home from the hospital. Cardiac Rehab, a medically supervised progressive exercise and education program, is available to assist in recovery. Evaluation and creation of an individualized program with our Cardiac Rehab team focuses on future risk reduction and maintaining a lifelong heart-healthy lifestyle.
According to a recent study, patients who enroll in a cardiac rehabilitation program following a cardiac event have a 21-34% lower mortality rate than those who don’t.
If you have experienced one, or more, of the following conditions, you are eligible:
During each one-hour exercise session (offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday), patients will use a variety of equipment while staff monitors heart rhythms, blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels and any cardiac symptoms. Patients will progress according to their tolerance, within the framework of personal goals and ACSM/AACPR best practice guidelines.
Cardiac Rehabilitation is available at both our Aspen Valley Hospital campus and our After-Hours Medical Care clinic location in Basalt. Both locations have a full complement of exercise equipment and state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring capabilities.
Under the supervision of our medical director, our multidisciplinary team consists of licensed registered nurses, exercise physiologists, a licensed clinical social worker and registered dietitians. Exercise sessions are led by staff trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with physician access at all times in case of an emergency.
Our goals for the program include:
While exercise is an important aspect of cardiac health, it is equally important to address the entire individual in order to live a full, relaxed and balanced life.
