BIO

Andy Fisher, MD, MBA is a board-certified radiologist and the medical director for imaging at Aspen Valley Hospital. He practices full time at Radiology Imaging Associates in Denver and is one of the radiologists at RIA who works at Aspen Valley Hospital for part of each month. Dr. Fisher specializes and is fellowship-trained in body imaging — interpreting exams and diagnosing diseases related to the chest, abdomen and pelvis — and has additional expertise in trauma and urologic imaging. He developed an interest in medicine after fracturing his neck at age 14 in a gymnastics accident, but studied economics as an undergraduate at Yale University. Dr. Fisher attended Duke University Medical School, graduating in 1992. He completed his residency at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in 1996, and he went on to work there as an assistant professor of radiology, running the emergency imaging program at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. His interest in the business of medicine led Dr. Fisher to earn an MBA in 2001 from the Olin School of Business at Washington University. He has been a prolific writer and researcher, authoring three radiology textbooks and numerous peer-reviewed articles. Since first joining the staff at Aspen Valley Hospital in 1999, he has grown to appreciate the sense of community and active lifestyle that are an integral part of Aspen. He is impressed with the Hospital’s ability to offer top-tier medical care in a small resort community.
