BIO

Dr. Nagle has been on the medical staff at Aspen Valley Hospital for several years as an obstetrician/gynecologist providing care to women throughout the valley. Dr. Nagle received her medical degree from New York Medical College and completed her residency at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Prior to medical school, she was a tennis professional in Aspen, which, in conjunction with her medical practice, contributed to her knowledge of the community and its needs. Dr. Nagle also serves on the Board of the Aspen Hope Center, as well as the Aspen Valley Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.

BIO

Mr. Schumacher has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley since 1980. He is an attorney specializing in taxation and real estate. His law degrees — J.D. and LL.M. (taxation) — were received from the University of Denver College of Law. With six children (five of them born at Aspen Valley Hospital), and a law firm that has represented physicians and physician groups for more than 25 years, he has both professional and personal experience with Aspen Valley Hospital. He also serves on the Board of Aspen Country Day School. In the past, he was on the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club Board of Directors.

Mr. Frias has lived in Aspen since 1974. He is an owner of Frias Properties of Aspen, a local property management and real estate company that specializes in real estate sales, rentals, property management and development. Mr. Frias has served on many local organizational boards including: Aspen Chamber Resort Association, Aspen Lodging Association, Aspen Junior Hockey, Aspen School District Financial Advisory Board, Aspen Trout Unlimited, Aspen Child Care Advisory Board, Meadowood Homeowners, and Villa of Aspen Homeowners. Mr. Frias raised his family in Aspen, including two children, both of whom were born at Aspen Valley Hospital, and currently lives in the Meadowood subdivision with his wife, Marilyn.

Dr. Balko is a board-certified emergency medicine physician who served on the Hospital Board of Directors from 2004-2008 and was re-elected in 2016. He brings a wealth of experience as a practicing physician and governing leader. His goals are to augment our facilities and care, expand the cope of the medical staff and hospital services, maintain the financial strength of the Hospital, and continue to expand on our culture of safety.

Mr. Eisenstat joined the Aspen Valley Hospital Board of Directors in May 2013. He is a retired senior partner of the law firm Akin, Gump, Stauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP, based in Washington, DC. He headed the firm’s health industry department from 1981 to 2007 when he retired, and then served as a consultant to the firm through 2012. Mr. Eisenstat represented major academic medical centers, healthcare systems, community hospitals, specialty hospitals, and various other healthcare-related enterprises throughout the course of his career. In 2006 he was named by Nightingale’s Healthcare News as one of 10 “Outstanding Hospital Lawyers” in the U.S. Mr. Eisenstat has served on the Hospital's Audit Committee since 2007, chaired the 2016 CEO search committee, and currently chairs the Hospital's Compensation Committee.

BIO

Dave has over 35 years of healthcare experience, with 25 of those years as a hospital administrator (13 at Aspen Valley Hospital). Dave was Aspen Valley Hospital's CEO from 2004-2013, returning to the position in the fall of 2016. In 2013, Dave moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he was Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Tucson Medical Center, a 600-bed tertiary hospital. Then, prior to returning to AVH, he was the Executive Director of a newly-formed management company, the Community Care Alliance (CCA), that formed two Accountable Care Organizations serving seniors in 14 rural communities in western Colorado and Washington State. During his tenure with the CCA, Dave worked with dozens of rural hospitals in Colorado, California and Washington, gaining an abundance of knowledge about accountable care and a passion for being part of the healthcare industry’s transformation to value-based care.

Deborah joined the Aspen Valley Hospital executive team in January of 2013 as President & CEO of the Aspen Valley Hospital Foundation, which was formed in June 2012. Prior to that appointment, Deborah was the executive director of Northern Dutchess Hospital Foundation in Rhinebeck, New York, and associate director of development for The Foundation for Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. Deborah holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Her focus at the Hospital is on encouraging philanthropic support by matching the needs of the organization with donor interests. Deborah also works with a dedicated Board of Directors including like-minded individuals who help bring the Foundation’s and the Hospital’s message to the community.

Elaine was a clinical RN, working in the ICU and establishing the cardiology clinic at Aspen Valley Hospital, starting in 2000. She won a seat on the Board of Directors in 2002 and served in that capacity until 2004 when she moved into an administrative role. She was Legal Counsel, Chief Clinical Officer, and Compliance Officer for many years. Now, as Chief Transformation Officer, she is responsible for developing and implementing an integrated system of care that can perform effectively in a value-based reimbursement environment. She continues to serve as legal counsel for the Hospital. Elaine holds a bachelor's degree in nursing, a master degree in business administration, and a juris doctorate with an emphasis on healthcare law.

Lori began her career at Aspen Valley Hospital in 2008, overseeing a number of different clinical departments over the years: emergency, outpatient clinics, oncology/infusion, cardiopulmonary diagnostics, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, diabetes education, the Snowmass Clinic, and the After-Hours Medical Care clinic in Basalt. In December 2014, she became the Director of Quality and Patient Safety, leading and directing all quality management activities including patient care outcomes, safety and performance improvement. Promoted to Chief Clinical Officer in June 2016, Lori has responsibility for all clinical functions within the Hospital. She holds a master's of science degree in nursing management and leadership.

A member of the Aspen Valley Hospital team since 2002, Alicia holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, is certified as a senior professional in human resources, and has a master’s of science degree in organizational leadership (MSOL). She chairs the Western Healthcare Alliance HR peer network group and serves on the executive committee for the Colorado Healthcare Association for Human Resource Management (CHAHRM). She has also served on a variety of community task forces regarding employee housing, wellness, transportation and childcare capacity. Alicia interacts with the Hospital's 500+ managers and employees on a variety of human resource issues and is responsible for implementing the following HR programs: compensation/benefits, performance management, employee health and wellness, staff and leadership development, recruitment and retention, employee relations, and orientation.

Ginette was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in August of 2017, formerly serving as Associate CFO since April of 2015. She had been Aspen Valley Hospital's controller since 2004 and is very knowledgeable about all aspects of the finance department. Prior to coming to Aspen Valley Hospital, Ginette worked for two multinational corporations in the accounting field for seven years. She had also been the CFO for two privately held companies in the valley. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting, is a Certified Public Accountant, and is also certified by the Healthcare Financial Management Association as a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional. As CFO, she oversees the functions of the finance department, admissions/registration, billing, engineering, environmental services, medical records and the assisted living facility.

Jennifer joined Aspen Valley Hospital’s executive team in 2017, building on nearly two decades of experience managing communications for top tier brands and building strong relationships within the Aspen community. Prior to joining Aspen Valley Hospital, Jennifer owned and operated her own marketing firm, making a positive impact for national brands and Aspen area nonprofits. Jennifer’s work has received national recognition for excellence. In her role as Chief Marketing Officer, Jennifer determines strategy and implements internal and external communications and branding efforts.

BIO

Dr. Stahl is an orthopedic surgeon and was a physician leader with the Panorama Orthopedic Group and OrthoColorado Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado, before joining the Aspen Valley Hospital team in 2013. He has extensive leadership, physician and hospital governance experience. Dr. Stahl is originally from France, where he spent time in Aspen’s Sister City, Chamonix, and he was a member of the French National Ski Team. Dr. Stahl assists Aspen Valley Hospital’s medical staff in fulfilling their board-delegated responsibilities for the provision of quality care. He supervises employed and contracted physicians as a member of the executive team.
