Jeanne Stough is a Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional who manages Aspen Valley Hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Oncology Rehabilitation programs. She joined the Hospital’s team in 2016 and was promoted to manager in 2019. She oversees staff and programming, working to ensure the Hospital maintains the highest level of certification with the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Prior to Aspen, Jeanne managed the cardiac rehabilitation department at Vail Health for 15 years. Jeanne was first exposed to cardiovascular studies as an undergraduate at Wheaton College by a professor who encouraged her to get involved with the school’s Human Performance Lab and Adult Fitness/Cardiac Rehab program. She subsequently earned her MS in Exercise Physiology from Colorado State University. Jeanne has worked in a variety of positions throughout her career that have exposed her to all types of patients. Her first job out of college with a primary care practice in Los Angeles introduced her to diagnostic testing, pacemaker interrogation, cardiac rehab and health education. As a personal trainer in Yakima, Wash., she worked with an aging population facing a variety of health challenges, and she was also involved in revising national certification requirements for personal trainers. To this day, Jeanne considers fitness and cardiac health her “first love,” and credits her passion for her work to her grandfather who died from a heart attack at the age of 42. Jeanne especially loves working in exercise physiology at altitude with people who love to be active, which fits in with her personal mantra of “Fresh Air, Fitness, Friends and Faith.” She credits Aspen Valley Hospital for its investment in its rehab facilities and staff, because it sends a strong message about the Hospital’s commitment to keeping Aspen one of the healthiest communities in the nation.
