Dr. Goralka loves his job as a Med/Peds Hospitalist at Aspen Valley Hospital. He feels it is a privilege to be a physician (and especially so at AVH). He provides evidence-based care that is patient-centered, compassionate and individualized. In 2007 he joined AVH in the “original Castle Creek Hospital” as the hospital’s first employed physician and founded the Hospitalist program. With the expansion and remodel of the hospital, he oversaw the transition of the program from one full-time hospitalist to three full-time hospitalists, while maintaining AVH’s perennial, award-winning patient satisfaction scores. Dr. Goralka has been married to the love of his life for almost 30 years, and together they have raised three children in Aspen/Snowmass. In his younger days, he was a competitive runner. Now he enjoys hiking, uphilling and mountain biking. Dr. Goralka’s undergraduate studies included a double major in Physiology and Italian Literature from the University of California, Davis. He went on to study medicine at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago and serve his residencies at Loyola University Medical Center and the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital. Dr. Goralka is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics. At AVH, he serves as Chairman of the Pharmaceuticals and Therapeutic Committee, and co-chairs the ICU Committee. He previously served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Medical Staff Secretary and Hospitalist Program Director at Aspen Valley Hospital. He is also a clinical instructor at the University of Colorado Department of Family Medicine.
