As technical advancements in healthcare make leaps and bounds forward, patient options for surgery continue to expand and improve. Surgery generally falls into three categories: general surgery in which surgeons make incisions large enough to see the entire surgical area; traditional laparoscopic surgery, a method that uses special long-handled tools and magnified images; and robotic-assisted surgery, which allows your surgeon to perform surgery using enhanced technological tools and magnified 3D imaging to achieve the most successful results possible. The da Vinci 5 falls into the last category.
This powerful surgical system allows your surgeon to work through tiny incisions in the skin with smooth precision. The da Vinci 5’s tools offer greater range of motion than the human hand, and a visually acute and magnified surgical field means your doctor can access hard-to-reach areas of your body while still applying maximum control. Now integrating enhanced surgical senses through its Force Feedback technology, da Vinci 5 is the most advanced robotic-assisted surgical system available, supporting minimally-invasive techniques and better patient outcomes.
With more than 150 new design innovations, da Vinci 5 expands upon core da Vinci system features, including wristed instruments, 3DHD visualization, intuitive motion and an ergonomic design. As with all da Vinci surgical systems, our surgeons are 100% in control of the technology, which translates their hand movements into smaller, more precise movements.
Key enhancements of the da Vinci 5 include:
Enhanced precision and control.
The da Vinci 5’s surgical field is in crystal-clear 3DHD view with optimized vision and higher image resolution so your doctor can see the fine details of your surgery.
Less trauma to tissues, potential for improved outcomes.
Da Vinci 5 integrates first-of-its kind Force Feedback technology, which can reduce the amount of force on tissues and can result in better outcomes and shorter recovery times.
10,000x computing power
Da Vinci’s most intelligent surgical system offers our surgeons cutting-edge data analytics and unprecedented insights into surgical performance, enabling greater efficiency.
Minimally invasive.
This allows your surgeon to work through small incisions (typically 8 – 13mm) instead of large cuts into the body.
Aspen Valley hospital currently provides the following general surgery services with the da Vinci 5 surgical robot:
After checking in, your surgeon and care team review the procedure and answer any questions you might have. An anesthesiologist then administers medicine to ensure you experience no pain during the procedure.
Your surgeon stays in the room the entire time, controlling the robotic system.
Once the surgery is complete, you’re transported to a recovery wing of the hospital.
