Special Advisory Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Pitkin County Community Coronavirus Hotline is available for questions, concerns and prescreening of the coronavirus. Please call 970-429-6186. The hotline is staffed daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. If you have symptoms like cough, fever and shortness of breath, do NOT go to the AVH Emergency Department (ED). Call the Pitkin County Community Coronavirus Hotline or call your regular doctor first for phone screening and further instructions. In order to prevent the spread of illness, it is important to call ahead before going to see a doctor.

  • If you experience severe respiratory distress and/or need immediate attention, call 9-1-1 and let them know you are concerned you may have COVID-19.
  • If you’re over 60 and you have underlying conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and lung disease, come up with a plan with your doctor to identify your health risks for COVID-19 and how to manage symptoms. Contact your doctor right away if you do have symptoms.

If you have been instructed to go to the Emergency Department, you will be asked to call a special phone number when onsite to prescreen for COVID-19 symptoms. This helps our physicians and nurses prepare. Thank you for helping us maintain our ED as a safe place of care.
