Summer, Here We Come! | A Message from CEO Dave Ressler
“We’re waxing down our surfboards, we can’t wait for June!” Well, maybe surfboards are not applicable in Aspen, but the Beach Boys’ classic lyrics from “Surfin’ U.S.A.” none-the-less capture many of our moods right now. And perhaps never have we been more excited about summer’s arrival than this year, as we look forward to a busy summer season and a return to those classic summertime activities which we have dearly missed for many months. After all, as a community, we deserve to finally have some fun!
As our fully-vaccinated rate continues to climb through 60% in our community, we have seen our incidence and positivity rates drop, and our community restrictions are being lifted here and across the state. We are now entering a new phase of the pandemic that places much more emphasis on personal responsibility, which we have already shown we can handle. We will gladly accept our responsibilities for getting vaccinated and continue to monitor our health and get tested when necessary. These are how we can support our community, our friends and our families in a time of renewed optimism.
While you are thinking about your health, please remember we are an active community that thrives on being outdoors…and moving! Aspen Valley Hospital’s staff and physicians share our community’s passion, and we want to keep you safe while engaging in these activities. You can be assured that our emergency personnel, ambulance professionals and trauma surgeons will be here if you fall. As a Level III Trauma Center we work hard to make sure we have the systems and the people in place to provide you the highest level of care. For your part, please always remember to wear a helmet when you are riding any kind of wheeled device, and we have bike helmets for those in our community who need them. And, of course, as we have always done, we continue to improve upon the breadth and quality of our orthopedic and rehabilitative services to get you back into the action, and keep you there. Our partners at The Steadman Clinic have dedicated their careers to the same pursuit – for athletes of all shapes, sizes and levels – even the most elite athletes in the country.
In this month’s enewsletter, we provide helpful tips and ideas for keeping yourself and your family safe and loving the outdoor lifestyle. As your community hospital, and a system of care, we are here for you when you need us, and we are also here to help you avoid our services when you don’t. So, get out there and enjoy the summer. And don’t forget the sunscreen!
