BIO

Michelle Coombs is a Roaring Fork Valley native and Behavioral Health Specialist who joined the team at Aspen Valley Primary Care in 2024. Michelle is a licensed professional counselor candidate who works with patients experiencing depression, anxiety and other mental health challenges. She is fluent in Spanish and works with both English- and Spanish-speaking patients, particularly those facing barriers to therapeutic services because of language, cultural differences or other challenges. Michelle completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2016 from Lewis & Clark College with a double major in both Hispanic studies and psychology. She returned to study at the University of Colorado, Denver, earning her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a multicultural emphasis in 2021. She is also trained in EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, which can help people process traumatic memories. Her professional experience includes nearly two years as a therapist at Servicios de la Raza, a Denver-based nonprofit focused on providing a wide range of services to underserved populations. Her job at Aspen Valley Primary Care allows her to continue advocating for and providing services to people who face obstacles to accessing care. Michelle’s favorite things about living in the Roaring Fork Valley are being close to nature, whether listening to birds in the morning or hiking in the backcountry, and being a part of a small, friendly community where people are connected, involved and support each other.
