FAQs

What can I expect before my surgery?

Your surgical team will visit you in the pre-operative area before your surgery to review the procedure, your consent and answer any questions you have.

Does Aspen Valley Hospital provide both inpatient and outpatient procedures?

Yes, at Aspen Valley Hospital, we are able to accommodate single-day outpatient surgeries, as well as procedures that require longer operating and recovery times.

Can my family visit me before and after surgery?

Yes, a nurse or surgical tech will bring your family back to see you prior to your procedure, and then again once when you’re in the recovery area. Depending on current occupancy, your surgical team might request your family to visit in limited numbers at a time to respect the privacy of other patients.

Will the doctor come talk to my family after my surgery?

Yes, your surgeon will visit with your family after the surgery while you’re in recovery, updating them on your status, explaining what was done, and answering any questions they have.

Will I have a caseworker?

Whether or not you are assigned a caseworker depends on the complexity of your case and your surgical procedure. Talk with your surgical team to learn more about whether or not you are eligible for a caseworker.

What type of anesthesia will I be undergoing during my procedure?

Your surgeon and anesthesiologist will decide which type of anesthesia you will receive during your surgery. Talk with your team during your pre-op visit to learn more.

Where will I be staying during my recovery?

Our surgical wing includes 12 same-day pre-operative and post-operative recovery rooms, plus a post-anesthesia care unit, so you can recover safely before returning home if your surgery does not require an overnight stay. If your surgery requires a more extended recovery, you will be admitted to our patient care unit to recover in one of our private and fully-equipped inpatient rooms.

Are meals provided during my inpatient recovery?

Yes, patients who require a longer stay with us can choose three daily meals from the Castle Creek Cafe.
